Engage in Community Waste Diversion Activities.
Our city offers plenty of community-wide waste diversion events. Check out our schedule of events for disposal of brush and bulky items, hazardous waste materials, our bi-annual Zero Waste events and more!

Reduce Waste Production.
Choose long-lasting items over disposable ones and avoid excess packaging. Buy in bulk, buy concentrates, and use reusable containers and bottles for lunch.
Clean & Empty.
Make sure recyclables are empty and clean before recycling. Lightly rinse containers to remove any residual material.

Avoid Disposable Items
Buy rechargeable batteries, low energy light bulbs, and razors with interchangeable heads.
Offer Supplies
If you know someone interested in making art from recycled materials, you can offer to provide supplies.

Support Recycling
Purchase products with recycled content to help create a demand for recycled materials.

Inspire Friends & Family!
Share with those around you why recycling matters to you — our personal reasons can be incredibly encouraging for friends and family to recycle. Let’s lead by example and make it easy for everyone to join in!
Let’s be Respectful of Each Other.
Living a zero-waste lifestyle is voluntary. Let’s not discourage our neighbors from waste diversion activities and judge those who think differently. We are a diverse and vibrant community. The greatest support we can give each other is our respect.
